Monday was a day full of meaningful experiences and memorable moments!  My daughter Hope and I participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King Day Walk organized by Obama for America and the Democratic Party of Georgia in support of the ReElection of President Obama.

It was a day full of action: before, during and after the Walk we were busy registering voters, signing up volunteers, and encouraging everyone to re-elect President Obama!  Jeff Daniels from the Democratic Party of Georgia kicked things off by providing voter registration instruction and distributing materials.  All of the volunteers were “Fired Up and Ready to Go!”  Time passed quickly and before we knew it the March began.

Decked out in our Obama gear and carrying 2012 signs, we walked the one mile trek that began in the heart of downtown Atlanta.  How exhilarating it was to have a multitude of those lining the street join in as we chanted “Four More Years!”  Those of us who gathered for this endeavor reflected the President’s vision of America; Black, White and all races of all ages coming together because we believe that our country can and will live up to the ideals expressed in our founding documents!

As we proceeded to the ending destination (the MLK Community Learning Center) how emotional was the moment when we passed Ebenezer Baptist Church.  Often referred to as America’s Freedom Church, it is here that a young Dr. King honed his oratory and created a spiritual fervor that resulted in the civil rights movement!

The day is one I shall cherish as it was my first ever March and I was able to share this experience with my daughter.  And it  was a privilege to have the opportunity to express publicly my appreciation of two great American Heroes – Dr. King and President Obama!

Four More Years – I’M IN!
